Prototype

Hi Guys!

So one of my colleagues gave me an awesome idea during our class dotstorming assignment. The idea was to create a Kahoot for part of my problem of practice. My Problem is about professional development for teachers about different learning styles and engaging our students. So I decided to take that idea and use it for my prototype. I would start out the professional development meeting with this Kahoot as an engaging starter/ survey for the staff. I think I could vamp it up a bit and add more. However, right now this is where my prototype is at. Let me know what you think of it!

Kahoot!

  1. Hi Tiffany!
I love Kahoot! I think this would be a great idea to use in starting your professional development session! For one, I think it would be beneficial to introduce the tool to teachers who have not used it before. Secondly, I think it would be a great resource for you in starting this session so you know what teachers might not understand different learning styles. This will give you a good idea for the rest of the PD session and how in depth you might need to go in terms of the different learning styles. I like how Kahoot! gives that immediate feedback after each question so you are able to really judge who knows what. I think your Kahoot! looks great!

  2. Hi Tiffany,
I used Kahoot for my prototype too! This was my first time using it and I found it to be really user friendly. I think your Kahoot is great and would be a welcomed addition to a PD day. My only feedback is that you might want to add some diagrams to liven the screen up. In the first couple of questions the answers are given in the order of visual, auditory, kinesthetic. Then later in the quiz they switch places. Was that intentional? I actually got one wrong because I clicked the button where visual had been, rather than actually reading the words. Not a very visual decision on my part! I love the video with examples of the different learning styles that you used as the first question. Nice job!

    1. hi Suzanne, Yes I know I should add some more diagrams. I was just playing around with it. Yes! That was intentional I am glad that you caught it! :)

    2. It will be interesting to see how many of your staff make the same mistake that I did!

    3. I caught that also and ended up doing the same thing as Suzanne! Haha

  3. I actually like that you intentionally switched up the order. It will provide an opportunity for you to have a good discussion with your faculty about the switched order and the resulting effect on the visual learner!

  4. Hey Tiffany! Great Kahoot! This was actually my first experience using Kahoot and I really like it. It was somewhat confusing for me to figure out at first having to switch between the two different pages to see the question and pick my answer. I ended up choosing the "team" option because I figured that its what you would have teachers use in the professional development. I agree with what Chelsea and Suzanne said above. I believe this is a great, low-level Kahoot that gets teachers in the mindset of different learning styles. It is a great start and I can see you adding more visuals to make it more interesting. Great work! I'll have to try Kahoot in my classroom now!

  5. Tiffany-

Nice job! I really like Suzanne's comment about switching up the order and what that does to the visual learner. We were first introduced to Kahoot as a tech tool by playing staff trivia at an all staff meeting. Prior to the meeting, our head of tech had collected tidbits of information about various staff members so as he was explaining parts of the program itself, we also had fun getting to know each other better. This might be a way to make the learning even more for a PD. For example, I learned that my coworker Jen danced ballet until she was 25! I would have never guessed! Nice work putting it all together.
